As of 6:30 pm this evening, Atlantia is officially part of the sidesword experiment.
HRM and EM gave me the thumbs up at 12th Night and Master Gwylym, the Society Sidesword Marshal, sent me and email welcoming us to the program.
I will be the sidesword marshal for Atlantia until such time that it becomes too big or an absolute drag. A deputy may be sought out in the next few months.
For anyone wanting to participate in the sidesword experiment, the rules can be found at http://jan.ucc.nau.edu/~wew/fencing/sca/sca-sidesword.html.
What this means to you is that anyone who wishes to participate will need to send me a report of the practice. I will need to send in monthly reports to Gwylym for the first 6 months.
As posted in the sidesword rules... "Any group participating is required to maintain a record of fighters attending, any and all technical issues stemming from the use of cutting technique, and ALL injuries (regardless of severity). At the end of practices, there will be a 30 minute 'cool down' discussion period. Minutes of these meetings to be included in a report to be given to the Kingdom Marshal (or appointed deputy) on a monthly basis. The KmoF will be required to file a quarterly report with the Society Sidesword Marshal. In addition the field groups must hold a combined practice/meeting once per quarter and file a combined report for that event.
