some Marshallate notes
Good morning Fair Atlantia,
If you didn't get a chance to wish well to our own Lord Vyvyan Broussard at Assessments, please do drop him a note and tell him you're thinking of him. Lord Vyvyan will go and do what many of us play at, and return to his role as a soldier serving our nation. I encourage you to support him, and all those in uniform. They deserve our full support and encouragement.
Now, on to business! First off, I'd like to announce the appointment of two deputies.
Barwyn Llwyd Aldrydd of Tir-y-Don is now the deputy Kingdom Rapier Marshal for VA/MD. He will issue warrants, make rulings, enforce policy, teach the necessary classes, and generally be the front line for all issues related to this office for that area. His Excellency has an impressive resume as an administrator and as a marshal both here in Atlantia and in the far western reaches of our Society. I have confidence in his capacity to serve our fair Kingdom.
For NC/SC, Herr Melchior der Grauwulf, who has long served the office of Kingdom Rapier Marshal in matters electronic, will now serve as the deputy for that region the same as His Excellency Barwyn Llwyd will serve as VA/MD deputy; issuing warrants, make rulings, enforce policy, teach classes, and be the point man for NC/SC. Herr Melchior is an able and efficient man in whom I have great faith to work wonders for Atlantia.
Let me be clear about one thing - both of these gentlemen are Deputy Kingdom Rapier Marshals. If Herr Melchior happens to travel to VA/MD, he will still have authority as the Deputy KRM. Likewise if His Excellency Barwyn Llwyd travels south. Please congratulate both of these men, and contact them first if you have a problem or a question in your area.
Starting after Pennsic, they will be recieving MIT paperwork from their respective areas and issuing warrants for those regions. So contact them if you need to turn in your paperwork, or bribe with cookies for an expedited warrants.
A number of you have been after me to issue warrants. My apologies for not getting back to you sooner, but we've been busy with the changeover of office. All MIT paperwork that I have received up to this point ~will~ be resolved one way or the other before Pennsic so that Barwyn Llwyd and Herr Melchior can start with clean slates in issuing warrants after Pennsic.
Rules - the new rules should be effective (unless something unforeseen happens) when the August Acorn comes out. Marshals, be ready to enforce the new rules when Pennsic is over, and fighters, be ready to fight under them when they come out. Like any change in our game, a period of adjustment is expected. One last note - combat in the SCA is done on the back of those who volunteer to support it; Ministers-of-the-Lists, Chiurgeons, Waterbearers, Marshals, and various other staff. They are serving so fighters can have fun on the field. Please be aware that rudeness or discourtesy to any member of the support staff anywhere at any point will be dealt with swiftly. Be nice to them. Thank them, and be polite to them.
