It seems I have been away from this site for a very long time. I thank everyone who has frequented this site for updates and information.
The biggest piece of news is that as of October 1st, 2002, the NEW rapier rules are in effect. Check the Ad'E website (http://www.mindspring.com/~aedan) for a copy of the rules. Soon I will have them on this site for all to see.
I will also have a link to the Society Rapeir Marshal's "Build and Correctly Use a Drop Tester" page. The drop test will replace the "four hard thrusts with a broken foil " nonsense to test the puncture resistance of fencing armor. It is a matter I missed in the updated rules and will be added as soon as possible.
At University last weekend, I hit on three points in my Rapier Marshal 101 class. One was the new rules and the major changes therein. The other two were authorization paperwork, one for minors and the other for adults. I can not stress the importance of knowing the proper procedure of filling out that paperwork. Trust me, it saves a ton of hate and discontent for everyone involved if it is done correctly. I have the minor authorization paperwork on this site and our wonderful KMOL houses it on her site as well. Read the "how-to" on the minors paperwork. Know it. Live it. Learn it.
Last, I will tell you that when actually signing the paperwork PRINT your legal name, NOT your SCA name and sign your name as well. If the MOL can not read your handwriting, essentially the authorization paperwork is no good. Again, avoid the hassle and do it right the first time.
